Abstract
This paper argues that Hungarian managers have neglected issues of work organization in introducing new technology. The introduction of new technology is motivated firstly by technical considerations and secondly by profitability, whilst manpower considerations, including work organization issues, emerge only in short term plans. However, in conditions of labour shortage, economic efficiency as well as the need to improve the social conditions of life, requires that increased attention should be given to work organization.
