Abstract
An incorrect statement was published in Hypothermia and Thermoregulation During Anesthesia for the Dental and Oral Surgery Patient. J Vet Dent 2008; 25: 279–283. An electronic communication error occurred during the final stages of publication. On page 280 the last sentence of the 2nd paragraph should have read “Blood pressure can be decreased during hypothermia.” Cardiovascular results of hypothermia are complex and it is incorrect to correlate a diminished blood pressure with a decreased ionotropy. Arterial blood pressure correlates with cardiac output and aortic input impedance. Cardiac output is the result of stroke volume and heart rate. Stroke volume is related to preload, ionotropy, and afterload. There is a complex physiological relationship between these parameters. We regret the publication error.
