Abstract
Perspectives on consciousness and energy in the theoretical models of Rogers and Newman are explored and related to philosophies of evolutionary idealists and Eastern metaphysicians. Parallels are drawn to the views of some quantum physicists concerning the nature of reality. The levels, characteristics and evolution of consciousness are examined from these perspectives. The expression of consciousness through energy fields, as postulated by Rogers, Newman and Eastern philosophies is described, with some suggestedapplications to nursing care, health and healing.
