Abstract
The pharmacist's involvement in litigation is destined to grow. The legislated duty to obtain and evaluate a patient's drug therapy will refute questions previously and inconsistently answered by courts about the pharmacist's duty. The pharmacist's involvement in infection control, antimicrobial therapy, and patient counseling requires him/her to know written policies and procedures and how other pharmacists are setting the standard of care.
