A major reason for peritoneal dialysis catheter replacement is outflow obstruction. This is commonly due to adherence of the catheter to the peritoneum. Using a blunted trocar from an acute dialysis kit the catheter can be mobilized under fluoroscopy, thus restoring function and obviating the need for surgery.
