This paper reviews progress in CAPD in pediatric patients from the treatment of the first child in 1978 through the spring of 1983. It will summarize current approaches to catheters, dialysis mechanics, and nutrition in children and make some observations on growth and complications seen in children on CAPD.
It has been established that this dialysis method is excellent for children, at least for the short term. It remains to be seen whether CAPD will be as successful over the longterm in children.
