Abstract
Thirty continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patients at the Acorn Research Laboratory participated in a four month study, which examined the safety and emcacy of a new tubing change procedure. This study indicates that CAPD personnel safely can alter the traditional tubing change procedure while lessening the time required to change transfer sets. The study also indicates that the new tubing change procedure may decrease the frequency of peritonitis associated with tubing changes.
