We reviewed the charts of 20 patients designated as psychosocial failures on CAPD. As expected, these charts contained numerous psychiatric, social, economic, and treatment compliance problems. This paper describes the early indicators of significant psychosocial distress and makes recommendations concerning intervention and prospective studies.
