Abstract
The 1996 edition of MicroCase ExplorIt: The American Survey is a CD-ROM that allows users to obtain recent and historical statistics on American public opinion and attitudes using national survey data. The data archive contains every survey question (more than 2,400) and every survey respondent (more than 32,000) included in the ongoing General Social Survey (GSS), conducted by the National Opinion Research Center. With The American Survey, you can explore the attitudes and opinions of Americans for each of the 20 General Social Surveys conducted between 1972 and 1994. (Purchasers of the 1996 edition will automatically receive the 1997 edition containing the 1996 GSS.) The data sets provide a wide range of variables for analysis by the student or instructor, the novice or the veteran researcher.
