Abstract
The book is designed to be a resource for social studies teachers who want to use microcomputers in their academic programs. A comprehensive annotated bibliography including books, articles, and software published since 1979 on computer-assisted and computer-managed instruction is the core of the book. The book also provides a brief history of computers, their components, and how they work. Strategies on how to evaluate software for usage in instruction are presented. An in-depth explanation is given of how social studies may benefit from the use of database programs, with a particular review of the SCHOLASTIC family of PFS educational-version programs.
