Abstract

Summary: OH, DEER! is a simulation designed for students in science classes in grades 5 through 9. It is not appropriate for use in college- level social science courses dealing with the environment. Its general contents are appropriate to the reading level for the age range stated, but it requires needless repetitive reading of the same passages as the "game" simulates a full five years of the life of a deer herd in a suburban community. Furthermore, the user does not have full control of the variables nor are they fully identified as he or she attempts to keep the size of the herd in check.
