Abstract

Writer's Pack is a bundling of four separate products, all designed to enhance WordStar, the leading word processor: ( 1 ) The Random House Proofreader is does better spelhng checking than the WordStar's original SpellStar (but not the newer CorrectStar); (2) Grammatik is the leading grammer checker, and also works with many other word processors; (3) Index creates automatic tables ofcontents and indices; and (4) Footnote, to manage and format footnotes. Footnote comes with the utility Pair, which checks to make sure special-effects markers (eg., for underlining or boldface), parentheses, quotations, and brackets are properly terminated. Many of these functions are becoming standard on the latest word processors, but the Writer's Pack may be the most effective way to upgrade for many social scientists currently using Wordstar.
