Abstract
White-collar productivity often means "wiring the office." The process is fraught with opportunities no manager wishes to miss: the return on investment in personal computer workstations approaches forty percent. On the other hand there are technical problems, a baffling array of vendors, and a lack of industry standardization. But the biggest obstacle to successful use of microcomputers is the "human component," identified as "fear, uncertainty, and doubt." Woodwell's approach is a combination of a cookbook and menu, spiced with some sage observations on the vices of haste for more experienced readers.
