Information scanning refers to any verbal, nonverbal or written request for information. Engaging in information scanning is essential to effective participation in organizational decision-making and problem-solving activities. This qualitative investigation of information-scanning behavior in organizations identifies the types of executive information scanning and distinguishes individual verbal and nonverbal scanning styles.
