A shift is occurring in management information systems from tabular to graphic presentation. The present study sought to identify decision task conditions under which presentation format of financial information influences judgments. In a series of experiments conducted with MBAs and undergraduate business students, presentation format was found to have no influence in a prediction task but to have a strong impact when the task involved assessments of confidence in predictions.
