Discussed is a novel powder prepregging technique that is based on the deposition of powder onto fibers that have been moistened using an ultrasonic humidifier. The presence of moisture enhances the binding of the powder to the fiber until the powder can be melted onto the fiber in a subsequent heating step. Process characterization and early laminate evaluation are discussed.
