Abstract
Ekonol and solid lubricants (graphite and MoS2) had been used to modify polyoxymethylene (POM). Composites of different Ekonol contents and constant lubricant had been prepared by the Torque Rheometer mixing and compression molding. Their mechanical properties, such as hardness, compressive strength, and impact strength, have been tested. The crystalline features have been studied by DSC, and also the tribological behavior has also been investigated by the friction and wear experiment. The worn surface of the composite has been studied by the SEM technique, and the wear mechanism analyzed. Results show that it is possible to prepare POM-graphite-MoS2-Ekonol composites of relatively high tribology performance and good mechanical properties by the Torque Rheometer mixing and compression molding. The wear mechanism has been changed from adhesion plus plough to fatigue wear plus abrasive wear with the rise of Ekonol content. Graphite and MoS2 can promote the crystallization of POM and enhance its properties.
