Abstract
Much of the world's burgeoning population lives in abject poverty. Not surprisingly, pressure to immigrate to the United States has been growing steadily. But the demands to come to the United States far exceed this country's ability to absorb the numbers of people who would like to come here. Lamm calls for a reevaluation of this country's immigration policies and more stringent action against illegal immigration. America's immigration policies, he contends, must conform to the realities of our time.
