ANNOUNCEMENT: On the assumption that not all that is interesting and useful information is published, in press, or even publishable, the editors are instituting a new section of news and notes which is intended to include letters or announcements of ongoing research, observations of general interest, and little gems culled from often-neglected or seldom-read sources (such as the latest issue of the ASR). A model for this sort of enterprise is Marcello Truzzi's "Subterranean Sociology Newsletter." It is hoped that readers will send along bits of information and that they will communicate with each other on topics of mutual interest. Notes and information should be sent to Peter K.
