Abstract
This article describes a collaborative program involving a major research university and seven liberal arts colleges. The immediate purpose of the program is to recruit undergraduate liberal arts students into a graduate teacher-preparation program. Its ultimate purpose is to improve the quality of individuals entering the teaching profession. In this sense, its roots lie in the education reform agendas of the 1980s. The article describes the steps involved in the establishment and operation of the program.
