Abstract
The purpose of this project was to create a dress that symbolized the power of the earth. The project was specifically focused on exploring the visual perception of an erupting volcano, an extraordinarily beautiful yet simultaneously destructive event. Over millions of years, volcanoes have changed the earth and produced new beginnings continually. Qualities of this concept of the earth's power to be expressed through the dress included vigorous, magnificent, enormous, gigantic, and voluminous. The dress was created to be worn by a fashionable woman at occasions such as an awards ceremony or a wedding, where a special and unusual garment is desired.
