Abstract
The purpose of this researched design was to create a fashionable garment that featured original bobbin lace, flax thread and Belgium linen (flax) batiste and could be worn by a range of ages to events. The formal length dress blends the geometric lines of the American arts and crafts period (1898 -1918) with the tubular silhouette of the 1930s. Experimentation with bobbin lace patterning, manipulation of fine denier flax yarn, and a variety of seam choices were necessary for successful completion of the design concept.
