Arashi Shibori, the traditional Japanese process of resist dyeing, is adapted to create pleated fabrics for use in garments. The purpose of this article is to: 1) document the pleating process using sequential photographs that provide enough visual detail to enable replication; 2) summarize the author’s previous experimental research using pleated fabrics; and 3) document the process in the design development of a current endeavor entitled Serendipity.
