Abstract
Comparisons of compensation across internation-al boundaries may not be as straightforward as they appear. Organizations with employees in multiple countries must balance local country tax-ation and social welfare structures, indigenous pay delivery mechanisms and social and cultural expectations against organizational needs for cross-country equity and fairness. This article reviews current rates of pay in several major economies, as well as trends in compensation in those countries.
