Abstract
[Opinion] Money matters in the workplace, no matter what kind of work people do. Money motivates us, and companies would be much more effective if money were accepted as the powerful motivator it is. While several studies demonstrate that financial incentives generate better employee performance, financial incentives can be misused and should not be seen as a panacea. Financial incentives should be used thoughtfully, with careful planning and attention to the potential abuses inherent in these systems.
