Abstract
With the increasing number of dual-income households and single parents in today’s workforce, a family-friendly workplace is essential for recruiting and retaining quality employees. Mildly ill/back-up child care is a growing trend in employee benefits because it helps employees maintain a healthy work/life balance. The primary cause of unscheduled absenteeism and employee turnover relates to work/life issues— specifically, those work/life issues that surround dependent care. Companies of all sizes that implement these benefits experience a sound financial investment with a substantial dollar return.
