Abstract
The appearance or aesthetic of cities, towns, neighborhoods, or other sections of the built environment affects our daily activities. The aesthetics of an environment evokefeelings and emotions such as pleasure, relaxation, excitement, and fear. These emotional responses to theaesthetic qualities ofdifferent environments affect spatial behaviors. The field of environmental aesthetics examines how people react to the visual quality of an environment. This bibliography organizes the literature that informs research in environmental aesthetics. It highlights research on common evaluative responses and the visual attributes that are salient to those espon te. Te bibliography also contains references to the conceptual models that are used to explain the relationship between evaluative responses and visual attributes.
