Abstract
Reagan's Impact examines the implementation process of national health planning during the 1970s and its subsequent demise under the tutelage of the Reagan administration. Congress enacted legislation to overcome prior health planning deficiencies but after six years that legislation has been replaced by private for-profit corporations and self-help special interest groups. Since a profit-seeking, corporate style of planning has superseded community health planning efforts, the question still remains as to who will provide health services not resulting in a profit. This article examines the impact of different health planning strategies on health providers and the American public.
