Abstract
This article discusses the limitations of the current understanding of Registered Nurses (RNs) in leadership roles in Canada, particularly outside the hospital setting. Existing data and published reports on nursing workforce composition are reviewed. Two pilot projects engaging undergraduate nursing students in the practice domain of policy and administration are described.
