The performance of 100 Canadian children (mean age 6.10 years) on the WPPSI-R was examined. Significant differences between the Canadian sample and the standardization sample occurred on five subtests. In addition, an exploratory factor analysis yielded four factors instead of the usual performance and verbal factors. Results suggested that while confidence could be placed in overall scores obtained for the Verbal, Performance, and Full Scale IQs, interpretation of scores at the subtest level should be cautiously approached.
