In nursing, conceptual models are being used as general guides for the organization of nursing knowledge and the design and implementation of clinical nursing practice, educational programs, and research projects. This article attempts to answer two questions related to the use of the Roy adaptation model in practice. Is the model appropriate for palliative care nursing? If so, how can the model be applied? Included is a sample assessment guide and care plan based on the Roy model.
