This quotation has been attributed to Meister J. Eckhart, a German Dominican preacher, theologian, and mystic who was born around 1260 in Hockheim and died in Cologne in 1327. I have been unable, after extensive search, either to verify that this statement is indeed from Meister Eckhart or to find the exact reference if the statement is his.
