Abstract
This article analyzes the correspondence between the evolution of the dominant forms of research methodology in social sciences and the evolution of the technical and material means of computer usage. Though there is no cause to effect mechanism implied, this correspondence has largely determined the general form of research methodology up until now. With the wide spread use of micro-computers, we may see a change in this phenomenon, accompanied by a certain decentralization of computer usage.
