INSNA Conference on Social Networks, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China, 11-15 July 2013: From 11 to 15 July, the International Network of Social Network Analysis (INSNA) organized a conference in China on the development of social network analysis in Asia. While INSNA organizes a conference every year (the Sunbelt) alternately in the United States and Europe, this is the first such conference held in Asia. The organization of this conference highlights the current dynamic opening of Social Science Research in China. The research presented addressed topics such as the growing importance of social capital in China, Guanxi, of government networks and of social movements. This research note describes the main themes and objects of study which were discussed at the conference.
