Negative Ties in Employment: Professional relationships play a role in at least half of job hirings, most often to allow the flow of information. But sometimes having the necessary relationships does not allow access to employment and is not effective. Research conducted among employees and employers on hiring, involving mixed methods of analysis has shown that certain ties can be negative, either because they block access to certain resources (here, employment) or because they engender more constraints than providing resources in a positive sense. Taking into account negative ties will enrich social networks analysis and has at least heuristic value.
