Liposuction surgery is associated with a low incidence of infection. Abdominal liposuction is rarely performed in patients with a colostomy, which presents a possible source of infection.
Case Report:
A patient with a colostomy had 2 liposuction procedures performed without a postoperative infection.
Conclusions:
Liposuction surgery can be performed in patients with a colostomy. Risk of infection is minimized if proper sterile draping and prophylactic antibiotics are used.
