Abstract
GORE-TEX® surgical implant material has been available since the early 1970s and has been available as a facial implant material since the 1980s. In the face, it has been used to augment the nose, cheeks, chin, and lips and to soften rhytids. This paper describes a new use for this implant material following endoscopic forehead elevation. When the glabellar musculature is weakened, ablated, or excised to reduce muscle volume and action, a postoperative tissue deficit may result. GORE-TEX® may be implanted at the time of endoscopic forehead elevation or secondarily if a glabellar depression becomes evident following endoscopic forehead-lifting. Between January and December 1995, 18 such implantations were performed. There were no infections or implant migrations. One implant was removed because its contour was visible and a second was replaced because it was not large enough.
