Abstract
Although most patients are satisfied with the results of rhinoplasty surgery, unanticipated postoperative psychological reactions can occur. Depression after rhinoplasty represents a form of adverse psychological reaction toward cosmetic surgery. Here we report a case of postoperative depression after a satisfactory rhinoplasty in a psychologically stable patient. This case of post-rhinoplasty depression should remind cosmetic surgeons that a good result may not consistently produce a happy, satisfied patient. Although preoperative psychological evaluations may be helpful in screening patients, this assessment may not always be predictive. The surgeon should therefore be prepared to help his patients to cope with adverse psychological reactions.
