Abstract
Compliance with the new OSHA regulations related to bloodborne pathogens is difficult and time consuming. There is considerable confusion as to the requirements of the individual surgeon. This article offers suggestions to those who have not yet come into compliance. Besides summarizing the most important requirements, it suggests consideration of a voluntary survey by a state OSHA representative who will guide the surgeon toward the necessary steps that must be taken to ensure compliance.
