Abstract
A technique is explained for total circumferential lower extremity liposuction, which extends from the lateral hip to the ankle. Description of the procedure begins with proper patient positioning, and moves on to skin markings which illustrate direction and areas of liposuctioning and location of all incision sites. This preliminary description is followed by details of the operative procedure. Results of the illustrative case are shown both qualitatively as well as quantitatively.
Many principles, including preoperative preparation, use of the tumescent technique, sufficient intraoperative and postoperative fluid replacement, autogenous blood administration, multiple drainage sites, and adequate postoperative compression contribute to the possibility of performing such an extensive procedure as a one-stage operation.
