Abstract
Mastopexy represents a procedure of elegance and aesthetic balance between breast volume, nipple position, and skin elasticity. Surgeons have tried to minimize or completely abandon the classic inverted “T” incision in the majority of breast uplifting procedures. Recently, the periareolar, concentric, or circumareolar mastopexy has been revisited and scrutinized. Circumareolar mastopexy has unfortunately been fraught with complications with dysesthetic results for decades. By adding prosthesis, this further compounds an already difficult problem. In this 78-case study derived over 4 years of practice experience, a reproducible approach to successful circumareolar mastopexy, simultaneously incorporating a subpectoral augmentation is detailed and illustrated. This also includes our postoperative protocol, which we believe is essential to ensure reproducible results.
