Abstract
An article in the Winter, 1965, issue of Adult Education described some of the union education programs of the Workers' Educa tional Association in urban areas. The W.E.A. plays a much broader role in rural regions, especially in areas without a uni versity. In such areas a tutor-organizer both organizes liberal adult education and teaches. Adult students and local represen tatives to a district council determine their own educational needs with the assistance of the tutor-organizers and other council mem bers. The only paid administrator is the District Secretary. The whole process involves a degree of democratic equality between student and tutor unique in English education.
