Abstract
On the surface, the advent of facsimile machines might bode greater and swifter exchange of information. Not so, say U.S. and Canadian editors drowning under a deluge of unsolicited faxed press releases. Most editors don't pay any more attention to faxes than to other kinds of releases, and many wish something could be done to stem the flood.
