Abstract
How does the editorial cartoonist, employed expressly as critic, respond to dilemmas involving the “ethics of objectivity” that editors and newsroom colleagues face? This exploratory survey found several points of disagreement. Editors were more intense than cartoonists in condemning possible conflicts of interest and more likely to advocate cartoonist “non-involvement” to avoid such conflicts.
