Abstract
A survey of the American Association of Editorial Cartoonists provided a current description of the field of editorial cartooning. Along with demographics, training and self-perception of their status in the newsroom, the survey provided information about leaders in the field, the importance of talent, the work environment, constraints on creativity, self-perception of the cartoonists' role and cartoonists' political views.
