Abstract
The American Planning Association’s (APA) Growing Smart project, now almost complete, has prepared a course syllabus on modernizing state planning and zoning enabling statutes to help educators bring its materials into the planning classrooms of the United States. This commentary describes the value of Growing Smart within the context of accredited graduate planning programs, summarizes the recommended course syllabus, and identifies alternative ways the course syllabus and Growing Smart contents can fit the individual needs of planning faculty and schools.
