Abstract
The possible effects of several confounding variables on color vision assessment was investigated with 75 mildi moderately mentally, retarded children ranging. in age I three to seven years. The sstudy, was an extension of a p study by Justen and Harth (1976). Support was obthined for the Justen and Harth conclusion that figure-ground perception may function as a confounding variable in color vision assessment. Other factors, including chronological age, cognitive ability level and visual-motor coordination, also appeared to be possible influences on color vision test performance of young midly to moderately mentally retarded children, implications for future research were briefly addressed.
