Abstract
The ignitability and burning behaviour of upholstered furniture has received considerable attention from fire authorities, fire scientists and test authorities. A wide variety of ignition sources occur in real life situations but it is clearly essential to use a limited number of ignition sources in standard ignition tests which simulate real life sources. This paper reviews real life flaming ignition sources in comparison with flaming ignition sources used in standard ignition tests for upholstered composites furniture and bed assembly tests.
