This article examines the relationship between develop mental perfor mance appraisal systems and the generation of effective infor mation for personnel decision making based upon a sample of 240 muncipal govern ment personnel ists. The results indicate that high quality perform ance appraisal information is associated with developmental systems and an emphasis on procedural fairness.
