The Adaptive Behavior Inventory for Children (ABIC) was intended to be a multidimensional measure of children's adaptive behavior. Using the original ABIC standardization data, a variety of statistical analyses portray the ABIC as a unidimensional index of overall adaptive function ing. Implications of this portrayal are presented for the measurement and classification of adaptive behavior.
